For a very long time a Passport was thought as an identification to jetset to exotic or tropical destinations around the world. As of this month, whether you have a Passport or not, it will be the preferred ID to travel with. If you have it, make sure it is renewed (most countries require the document to be valid within 6 months of your travel return from said destinations).
If you don’t have on yet, this is your chance to get it- might as well kill two birds with one stone and start traveling a little more this year.
Beginning on Jan 22, 2018, TSA will enforce the Federally mandated REAL ID requirements on all domestic travel. For US states that have not been granted an extension, travelers 18 and over are required to present a passport, or other REAL ID compliant forms of identification before boarding a federally regulated commercial aircraft.
